START
1. Extract the ZIP (do not run the file from inside the ZIP viewer).
2. Open Midnight-Ferry.html in a current desktop Chromium/Chrome browser.
3. That's it. No server, installation, account or connection is needed.

Sound starts OFF. Click Sound off to enable it, then adjust the volume.
Start low; use your normal device volume control too.

CONTROLS
Midnight / Blue hour / First light — choose a palette.
Rain — toggle the rain and its sound layer.
Drifting / Paused — pause or resume visual motion; audio is separate.
Float a lantern — send a little light across the harbour.
Your thought is optional. A blank lantern is welcome too.
? — about and keyboard help.
Top-right eye — hide the interface; Show controls brings it back.
Top-right full-screen icon — desktop full screen, where supported.

KEYBOARD
Space: pause/resume visuals (outside buttons, inputs and dialogs).
M: sound on/off. R: rain. H: hide/show the interface.
Escape: close a dialog or leave full screen.
Tab: move between controls. Enter/Space: activate the focused button.
Shortcuts do not intercept typing or operate while a dialog is open.

PRIVACY
The app makes no network requests and writes no app storage or cookies.
A thought is displayed briefly, never uploaded, and forgotten on refresh or
closing the page. There is no journal or recoverable saved message.
Your browser, extensions and operating system are outside the app's control;
they may retain normal browsing history, screenshots or session information.
Do not use a shared or monitored device for anything sensitive.

MOTION AND BATTERY
A reduced-motion system preference starts the harbour paused.
Animation and audio rest while the tab is hidden. To stop completely,
close the tab. A paused picture can still have audio if you enabled it.
Lanterns drift for a few minutes of animation time, then fade; pausing
also pauses their journey. Refresh starts a fresh harbour.

COMPATIBILITY
Verified in desktop Chromium 152 on Linux, including 1600x1000 and an
emulated 390x844 viewport. This is not a real-phone/device certification.
Other browsers and operating systems have not been verified for v1.0.
On phones, opening a local HTML file depends on the OS/browser; desktop
is the supported starting point. Full screen is hidden on narrow layouts.
Requires JavaScript and a canvas-capable browser. No downloaded assets.
